TEEN (Figs) Benefits of FIGS as explained by Ibn Al Qayyam; Figs (along with vinegar) are one of the best cures for SPLEEN  diseases:

The Sunnah does not mention figs as they did not grow in Hejaaz area or Madinah al Munawwarah. FIGS require a climate different to what is essential for growing the dates. ALLAH Has Sworn by FIGS in His Book because of its tremendous benefits & uses. Figs are hot and either dry or wet. Best kind of figs are the white kind when they are ripe, they cleanse the sand that accumulates in the liver & prostate & serve as a preventive substance against poisons, figs are more nutritious than all other types of fruits & help relieve the roughness in chest, throat & trachea.

Figs are good for liver & spleen cleansing, purify the phlegm that accumulates in the stomach & provide nourishment for the body. Yet figs make one more susceptible of lice if eaten in excess. Dried figs have a high nutritional value & they strengthen the nerves, it is the best to eat dried figs with almonds & walnut.

Jalinus (Galen) wrote that figs when eaten with walnut & rue prove of an antidote against poisons.
Abu Darda Radiy Allahu Anhu narrates that someone sent a dish of FIGS to Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam (as a gift), & he asked his companions to eat them, he ate them by himself & said that “If any fruit from the paradise could come in this world, it would have been FIGS, because fruits of Jannah (paradise) will be SEEDLESS, eat the figs as it cures PILES & is beneficial for the GOUT”, but we are doubtful if this Hadith is authentic. Pulp of figs is so wonderful, creates thirst among hot-natured people & quenches the thirst which results by phlegm, very affective for cough, it is a diuretic, opens & clears the clogs of liver & spleen; it is a cure for kidney & bladder infections.

When figs are eaten at empty stomach especially with almonds & walnut, they clean the entire digestive system, but figs should not e taken with heavy foods, white mulberry has the same benefits as that of
figs but mulberry is less nutritious.

Figs are a top source of fiber, as well as potassium and vitamin B6. Fiber results in bulkier stools, which lessen the incidence of constipation, hemorrhoids and colon cancer.
Fiber also lowers
cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. Just one fig provides 20% of the USRDA of fiber.
A Harvard University study of 43,757 men ages 40 to 75 found that those who got the most fiber had about half the risk of getting a heart attack as those who got the least. Furthermore, men who added just 10 grams of fiber a day to their diet (6 figs) lowered their incidence of heart disease by 30%.

Treating Conjunctivitis Islamically

Prophet's Guidance on treating conjunctivitis with rest and observing a special diet     We mentioned that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam required Suhaib Radi Allahu Anhu to observe a diet from eating dates when he was suffering from conjunctivitis, and asked Ali Radi Allahu Anhu when he was suffering from the same condition. Furthermore, Abu Naeem narrated in his book, "The Prophetic Medicine", "Whenever any of the Prophet's wives would come down with conjunctivitis, he would not touch her until her eyes were cured".     Conjunctivitis is an infection that attacks the conjunctiva; that is the white part of the eye. The disease is caused by one of the four conditions [hotness, coldness, ...

Islamic Foundations of Well-Being

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahiim DO NOT FORGET TO RECITE SURATUL KAHF today As Sunnah of every Juma'a. Barakallahu Fiikum Ajma'iin The Prophet Muhammad laid down the foundation for a social order in which every member of society was advised to maintain a healthy life, physically, psychologically, and spiritually. No aspect of life was to be disregarded. In the opinion of Douglas Guthrie (A History of Medicine, 1945), great advances in medicine made by Muslims during the Middle Ages were mainly due to the impact of the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Guthrie writes, “Had not the Prophet Muhammad himself said, ‘O Servant of God, use medicine, because God hath not created a pain without a remedy for it’”? Guthrie failed to quote the source of this important prophetic saying, but it is obvious that he was referring to the famous hadith from Tirmidhi (one of the six most important collections of prophetic traditions). As a matter of fact, there are several such sayings in...

Changing Old-Age Attitudes

There were several occasions when the Prophet (SAW) visited the sick, and after enquiring about the ailments advised to take the medicine prescribed from experienced physicians. On several occasions he advised the sick to approach Harith bin Kalda, a well-known Jewish physician of Thaqif (a place near Madinah, Saudi Arabia where the Prophet (SAW) resided at the time). The Prophet Muhammad PBUH, realizing the consequences of infectious epidemics, advised his companions that, “When you hear about a break of plague in any area, do not enter there and when it has broken in a land where you are, then do not run way from it (and thus spread it elsewhere).” On the basis of this hadith, Muslims considered precaution and vigilance against infectious epidemics as the command of God. The Prophet (SAW) also opposed charms and incantations as a form of remedy for diseases. On some occasions, however, when physical remedy (medicine) was not available, he allowed, mainly for psych...
