Prophet's Guidance on treating Pimples

 Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu,

Ibn As-Sunni said in his book that one of the wives of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said "Once the Messenger of Allah came by when I had a pimple on my finger, he saw it & asked:

"Do you have a Tharirah (arum or sweet Flag), I said, Yes". He said, "Place it on the pimple. He then said, Say, O Allah who Transforms the big to small and the small to big, make what I am suffering from small".

Tharirah (Arum) is an Indian remedy made of arum cane. Arum is hot and dry and helps against stomach and liver tumors, dropsy and it strengthens the heart as well.

In the Sahihain, it is narrated that Aishah Radiy Allahu Anha said "I perfumed the Messenger of Allah with my hands using Tharirah (Arum) during the farewell Hajj and while the state of Ihram and otherwise.

The pimple is a growth that results from hot harmful, septic substances that push towards the skin so as to find a way out of the body. The pimple needs to mature and to then be opened and extracted, such as by using the Tharirah, which helps extract the septic matter from the pimple, along with giving a good aroma.

Tharirah soothes the hotness of the pimple. This is why the author of Al-Qanoon said, "There is no better remedy for the burns than the Tharirah, when it is blended with rose essence and vinegar. Barakallahu fiikum Ajma'in ya Ikhwah.

Treating Conjunctivitis Islamically

Treating Conjunctivitis أَعُوذُ بِاللّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ Prophet's Guidance on treating conjunctivitis with rest and observing a special diet     We mentioned that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam required Suhaib Radi Allahu Anhu to observe a diet from eating dates when he was suffering from conjunctivitis, and asked Ali Radi Allahu Anhu when he was suffering from the same condition. Furthermore, Abu Naeem narrated in his book, "The Prophetic Medicine", "Whenever any of the Prophet's wives would come down with conjunctivitis, he would not touch her until her eyes were cured".     Conjunctivitis is an infection that attacks the conjunctiva; that is the white part of the eye. The disease is caused by one of the four conditions [hotness, coldness, ...

Islamic Foundations of Well-Being

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahiim DO NOT FORGET TO RECITE SURATUL KAHF today As Sunnah of every Juma'a. Barakallahu Fiikum Ajma'iin The Prophet Muhammad laid down the foundation for a social order in which every member of society was advised to maintain a healthy life, physically, psychologically, and spiritually. No aspect of life was to be disregarded. In the opinion of Douglas Guthrie (A History of Medicine, 1945), great advances in medicine made by Muslims during the Middle Ages were mainly due to the impact of the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Guthrie writes, “Had not the Prophet Muhammad himself said, ‘O Servant of God, use medicine, because God hath not created a pain without a remedy for it’”? Guthrie failed to quote the source of this important prophetic saying, but it is obvious that he was referring to the famous hadith from Tirmidhi (one of the six most important collections of prophetic traditions). As a matter of fact, there are several such sayings in...
